Easter Vintage Festival - Great Central Railway

Hi everyone, here are all the photos I took whilst attending the Easter Vintage Festival today. This was my first ever visit to the Great Central Railway and the first rally for 2017.

I notice Oliver Cromwell is back in one piece, was it operating during the weekend? That would have been a good footplate ride if you could get on it. Last year it was in pieces in the workshops having some major work done.

Who's is the blue Marshall tractor?

Steam Boy Hertford 21st April 2017 05:11 AM

No, Oliver Cromwell wasn't on the roster, unfortunately

The Marshall tractor is Jingling Geordie - owned by Leicestershire Museums (?). It was previously in the Discovery Park until it closed.

Real good to see it out again with a new custodian.

Yes, Jingling Geordie is still owned by Leicestershire County Council Museums Service or whatever it's called these days but on loan to its new custodians for a number of years.

As a former carer for the engine, I must say it's nice to see it referred to as Jingling - so many captions and other people refer to Jinglin' , a subtle difference, but Ian Fraser always used the full word. Apologies for the pedantry!
