Nottingham Industrial Museum

Hello everyone

My first post here so please be gentle! Season's greetings from Nottingham Industrial Museum... yes, we are back up and running after being closed by Nottingham City Council in 2009! We are now a Registered Charity (1167388) and fully volunteer-led, relying on admission charges, donations and fundraising to keep afloat.

My name is Helen and I've recently joined Nottingham Industrial Museum as the volunteer Marketing and Communications Director. We now have a presence on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/NottinghamIndustrialMuseum/) and Twitter https://twitter.com/NottIndMuseum as well as developing a more user-friendly website and drafting a new fold-out leaflet. In our galleries we still have our Fowlers, the Basford Beam Engine and static engines, plus a growing reputation as being Nottingham's hidden gem.

We would be very grateful for your help and support - please come and visit us, or if you're too far afield please engage with us on social media. I have no budget for advertising so have to rely on the goodwill of interested folks to help spread the word.

In case you are in the area or fancy a day out, our next Family Steam Up will be on Sunday 29 January from 11am to 4pm https://www.facebook.com/events/1708783352769375/. It's only £4 per adult and £2 for a child, concessions and students... Bargain!

I look forward to chatting with you, as well as hearing about your visits to us and seeing the photos you have taken.

In the meantime, merry Christmas and best wishes for 2017!

Helen

The museum is in the grounds of Wollaton Hall which, I'm sure, is signposted with the brown tourist signs.

Thanks everyone for such a warm welcome. As Brian notes we are still located in the grounds of Wollaton Hall and as such we rely on their lovely brown tourist signs directing visitors off the A6514 (the infamous Western Boulevard) at Crown Island! Have you seen how much Highways England and Nottinghamshire County Council would charge us for our own brown signage... Wouldn't get much change from £10k!

Hello Helen, thankyou for the information about the steam up. It might help sat nav users if you could put a post code up.

Of course Colin, great idea!

Nottingham Industrial Museum is located in the Courtyard of Wollaton Hall and Deer Park which is brown tourist signposted from most of the A roads in the area.

The postcode is NG8 2AE and there's lots of parking (including Blue Badge) within the Deer Park. Parking charges are via the parking machines so bring change: £2 for 3 hours or £4 for all day. Wollaton Hall itself is free and includes the house, grounds, walks, kiddies play area and lake - great for the whole family. There is also a cafe, shop, toilets and baby change.

Entrance to the Industrial Museum on a steaming day is £4 per adult, £2 for each child, concession or student and under 5s are free. We have just started taking card payments which is a huge positive step forward!

Hope to see some of you there - please do introduce yourselves! It would be great to say hi!
