Winter weekend outings
It was a lovely day on Saturday, so it was decided to take Marshall Class 'S' no. 77973 'Aurora' to the pub for lunch.
A brief stop on a convenient sugar beet loading pad. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43552 A picturesque spot near Shotesham All Saints. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43553 Diamond Cottage, Shotesham All Saints, the address given by Ronald Clark at the end of the Prefaces/Forewords to his various books. The place has been done up somewhat since Ronald's day, but the diamond pattern in the roof tiles is still there. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43554 Lunch time. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43555 Going home the pretty way - 1 http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43556 Going home the pretty way - 2. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43557 On Sunday Aurora had to be taken to her winter home, about 18 miles away. That's when the fun started. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43558 Rain - sleet - snow. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43559 Starting to settle. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43560 Have you driven an engine in the snow? http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43561 Turning to rain again by the time we got to a convenient pub. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43562 But still passers by wanted to pose with the engine - as seen from the warm, dry bar. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43563 The rest of the way was just wet. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=43564 A trip to remember! That engine is gorgeous. (although I am a little biased.) Nice to see it out and being enjoyed.
Great pics too. Arial. |
I agree with Arial, what a superb engine!
Now you can tick off the 'must go out in miserable driving conditions' box on the to do list! Well done! Chris |
Looked like a cracking weekend even with the miserable conditions!

Nice to see engines used in winter not just summer
