Still looking for an aveling roller

Hi all

I've been looking for an aveling roller for sometime now I will consider anything for the right price but only have a modest budget. Anything under about 38,000

I have been to view it, it's to expensive for the condition it's in and the guy won't go low enough for me.

Based on the description, it has had extensive (expensive) work completed by well respected boiler makers. Is £38k unrealistic for this roller?

Cheers Carl.

I went to view it and worked out that you'd end up spending 10k getting it back on the road as it was missing a lot and still had no hydraulic. in my mind it's only worth 40 to 43 finished.

If the money is the only thing that matters (and to be honest, you do have to bear it in mind with extra to be spent) it isn't worth the 38k. If the roller had some significant interest and provenience, ie local engine to the purchaser, it might be worth more to someone personally.

Interestingly a reasonably local person to me valued my roller at 30k, I didn't ask for the valuation, it was just given (some time ago admittedly) but said person has a 1/2 size engine up for sale at 95k which is a bit poorly at the moment (i'm led to understand)

These valuations make no sense to me at all

Good luck in your search, and my advice.....be patient.......the right one at the right price will come along some day

Keep your eyes open and your ear to the ground , and then let an engine find you .

Carl, I don't know but prices seem to be all over the place these days for all types of Engines. I'm just glad i'm not in the market to sell or buy!

Hi Adrian
I agree re the prices all over the shop. However, in my opinion, 4040 is not your average roller!
Cheers Carl.
