Steam to Screen

From Steam to Screen
We are delighted to announce a new season of monthly film screenings, launching on the evening of May 19th with “Heavy Metal”.* This is a fascinating documentary about the historic and unique ‘Three Counties Steam Tour’ organised 20 years ago by the East Anglian Traction Engine Society (EATES), with whom we have joined forces in order to present this celluloid slice of history.
Two decades after the event, you can get an insight into the logistics involved in managing an extensive parade of traction engines steadily winding their steady way from Norfolk through Suffolk and onto Essex, as part of a remarkable 4 day challenge. The focus of this road run was the manufacturing history of Steam Traction Engines within these three counties, including of course Garretts of Leiston.
The Victorian building of Garretts Works is therefore the perfect location for a film night to mark this anniversary. Come along and learn about what it takes to organise and run an event on this scale, from the idea to the actual event days. This highly acclaimed film is accompanied by a million happy memories and promises to be an enjoyable evening for all.
The Museum will be open in the evening from 6:30pm on the 19th of May to enable ticketholders to peruse the displays and collections first and the film will start at 7:30pm. Refreshments will be available as well as a raffle.?Tickets are £6.50 per head, or free for EATES members.
Please pre-book your tickets with Stuart Hines on either 01728 832189 or by emailing stuart.hines@longshopmuseum.co.uk.
