Is Smallwood Rally back on?

I've heard a rumour that Smallwood Rally may be back on with a new committee, has anybody got any firm information?

Haven't got a clue! Our engine steward assured me that it wasn't going ahead, some lads in the Potteries assured me that it was on but on a diffferent site. Apparently stall holders were not aware that it had even been cancelled, and last week I heard that the owner of the field they used last year now wants to put his own rally on so it is anybodies guess as to what is happening!!!!

Pete.

Cheers Pete, I guess that we'll just have to wait and see, but if anybody is going for it they had better say so asap before people book elsewhere.

I think that there was a problem with the field Tez, like a lot of exhibitors we usually stay over until the tuesday (which we did) but apparently, after being assured that there was no problem with that the owner then decided that he wanted to spray the field that evening and wanted everyone off! George was poorly so did not attend the rally anyway. We were not aware of this so stayed, but virtually all the other exhibitiors left the site. This caused some upset and I believe that some of the committee resigned that week in disgust/protest? I also understand that the site owner wanted more money which wasn't available, as I said I gather that he now wants to run the event himself. All a mess really, I enjoyed it (Stationary engine man myself) but I think that I will find an alternative this year. Endon well dressing want exhibits so I may go there instead!

Pete.

From an insider:

"George Stockton's company, Smallwood Vintage Rally Ltd, whose committee ran the rally over the last three years won't be holding any more rallies at Love Lane and I believe the company is being dissolved.

I have heard that the farmer is intending to hold a rally or event himself with some others but none of the committee members except one from Smallwood Vintage Rally Ltd are involved this year. "
