South Cerney 2023

My report is now available:
https://www.internationalsteam.co.uk.../ukindex23.htm

My understanding is that Saturday's rain made things very unpleasant and, although the weather was much improved, there was no movement allowed on Sunday which makes me glad that I didn't change our plans to entertain 'family'.

My commiserations to those who were at the Whitby event, either with an engine or as spectators, not to mention the organisers who will have 'caught a cold',

We were told on Friday that being an old WW2 airbase it was all rock and gravel under the grass so would drain quickly, but not to move on grass on Saturday to avoid messing it up, and park on the perimeter road over night to steam Saturday which a good number of engines did and added a Saturday afternoon run to the pub. Having not yet refitted the canopy, we decided to have a day on the beer. Sunday was a lovely day and we were told to go ahead and drive around and the grass was very good but we chose to head over to the perimeter road and play there until a shower arrived late afternoon so we headed for the lorry.

Hats off to those running engines without canopy on Saturday sawing wood and running other displays and the hardy public seen around with umbrella and wellies but carrying on anyway.
