A photo taken yesterday at Ashby Magna of Wallis and Steevens traction engine Eileen. I notice the front axle is sprung - I assume the rear axle is also sprung...? If so, can anyone give more details such as what type of springs are used?

The event had an impressive selection of engines and I enjoyed my visit very much. It was a case of quality over quantity, although there was a decent number of machines. There was only one conv..., conver..., no, I can't bring myself to mention the 'C' word...! I think every engine was a nicely restored example, nothing over the top, just well presented engines that could do a days work if needed. The last time I attended the show it was held at High Cross, it must be getting on for fifteen years or so.

Michael.

Those Wallis's have coil springs above the rear axcel in the cast iron bearing housings.

That long rod Aveling has to be seen in the flesh, its absolutely stunning.

Looks like a very modified trials car possibly with the larger engine, sure it would fit in the shed next mine.

What a fantastic turn out and show. One of my favourite shows to date.
