Events for 2014.
Having completed our plans for this year we are busy planning for 2014.
Some events are "carved in stone". We will be at G.D.S.F. , South Cerney (40th), Welland (50th) ,and Old Warden. But we always like to visit other rally's for the first time, especially anniversary rally's. This year we went to Strumpshaw and Netley Marsh for the first time. So,what do we do next year? We don't want to go too far North, because in 2015 we plan to go to Masham (50th) and maybe Castle Howard. It seems that there are some good rally's in Derbyshire, also Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. We also would like to go to one of the rally's in Sussex. So, any advise would be most appreciated. Henham, (not too far from Strumpshaw) is always a good Rally

Rempstone :)

Lincoln

Wiston, best rally In Sussex! If you want a rally with lots of movement and a great variety of exhibits, all in the heart of the South Downs! All Organised by a group of TT members too!
|
Yes, thanks all.
Wiston was one that was on our radar. The Searle crew were promoting it at Old Warden. What about the rally at the Weald and Downland Museum? We've seen it on DVD and it looks very good. I say all this as a spectator, not as an exhibitor. Stef. |
Singleton was a very good rally when organised by a TT member! As was just a steam only event in a great setting, but now organised more by the museum and has less steam! If you only have one weekend, come to Wiston one day and pop in at Amberley and Singleton museums on the other day! All worthy of visits though! Tinkers Park is also a good rally beginning of June! With a railway and organ museum and lots of engine games!

Wiston gets my vote! Engines ENCOURAGED to move around and plenty of space to do so, great scenery, very friendly and steam games too Robin! Would be good to have an engine or two from further afield visiting sussex!

Fawley Hill for Lady McAlpine's 70th Birthday, best small rally I've attended in a long time in 2013.
|
As tiny said definitely Lincoln and maybe Elvaston Castle we always find it a very enjoyable weekend!

much marcle, south cerny, possibly bishops castle if its back on?

Sincere thanks to all of you for your suggestions. You've given us plenty to think about.
We always have a quiet May and June and then everything seems to come at once. Isn't it annoying to have to chose between two great rally's when they clash. So we will try to find some things to do during our quiet period; I imagine that Fawley Hill and Rempstone may have the dubious pleasure of our company. Finally, can anybody give me their thoughts on Abbey Hill? Stef. |
Stefan,
I have a list on my site [constantly being updated] of events that have already set the dates for 2014. Why not take a look and see if there's anything that inspires you as there's plenty to choose from http://www.tractiontime.co.uk/module....php?year=2014 Could I please ask if any members on here have confirmed dates for events in 2014 that I havent updated yet from the 2013 page to possilby send me a PM so I can revise the event accordingly? |
Many thanks to all those who replied to my post. Next year, as well as the usual favourites, we will be going to Rempstone, Fawley Hill and Wiston. There are also significant rallys at Welland (50th) and South Cerney (40th) which we will go to.
Again, many thanks for your help and suggestions. Stef. |
Tinkers Park is always good!
|
Many thanks Chris,
You'll see that others also recommended Tinkers Park and we gave it a lot of thought. However, in 2014 our trip into Sussex will be for the Wiston Steam Rally. The reason is that, unless I am mistaken, Tinkers Park will celebrate their 50th in 2015 so we will wait for that one. Stef. |
