Mag drill
Small mag drill wanted.
I am looking for the type that you can fit a half inch drill chuck to. John White |
Then you want a 2 or a 3 MT spindle .

John,
I had a similar requirement for a small mag drill, drilling some inaccessible areas on my engine. My old mag base drill was too large and unwieldy to get to the areas I needed to drill. I ended up buying the evolution mag drill from Machine Mart, I assumed it would be Chinese crap but would get the job done, and I could hide it in the cupboard. It turned out to be pretty good and a lot more useful than my back breaking "proper" mag base drill. We have used it loads since... https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/bora...SABEgIt2vD_BwE Cheap and cheerful, and has proved reliable. Dave |
I have recently picked up a leaflet for FEIN mag drills . They do some very compact ones , including their KBC 35 at 169 mm height , it goes inside girders . No doubt you can Google their catalogue . They do not come with drill chucks , being designed for rota broach cutters , but the small print says that chucks are available .

I’ve got one if you want to borrow it John, a Machine Mart one. It has drilled thousands of holes for thousands of rivets........

My rotabroach was a similar price and has been used a lot. Comes with a chuck to take up to 13mm drills etc. Kevin Gray has it at the moment doing his Aveling! He uses my tools more than I get chance too :D

Another vote for the evolution mag drill very good and I have made a fitting for a 1/2" chuck and a no 2 morse taper too

Hi all,
the one I am looking for is the magtron or similar with the hitachi motor, I have one but the motor is burned out. Johnny |
I have a Magnatron MB 30 which I bought with a burnt out motor - is yours this model? I replaced the entire drill assembly with an Hitachi D13 - see below. I removed the side and rear handles and it bolted straight on to the magbase slide - same hole spacing etc.
A brand new D13 drill cost me £75 on EBay, although I looked now and the cheapest I could see is £125. Cheers Carl. http://www.tractiontalkforum.com/pic...ictureid=57873 |
Carl, mine is an MB30 as well, I have been looking for a hitachi drill for ages but the cheapest I can find is about £200.
